This piece is a result of an effort of many people.
It is made by me and Naohito Myojin from Japan and was initiated by Peter at Modern Cooking and JonJon at Bonsaiboys trading.
I have forged, heattreated and put a handle on it and Myojin has made the grind and polish.
This was made to put together Japanese and western makers and also to introduce more European and Swedish steels to the Japanese knifemaking community.
A very exiting project and time will tell what the future holds ;)
It is a forged integral from a 35x25mm Damasteel DS93x Dense twist pattern stainless steel
Heattreated to ~63hrc
Balancepoint is at Isasmedjan makers mark
Measurements on this piece is:
Height at heel 57mm
Thickness of spine
4,1mm at bolster/blade transition
~2,1mm at middle of blade
~1,2mm at 2cm from the tip
Handle and saya is made of Redwood Lace burl with copper accents.
This piece will not be sold at the show, it will be auctioned off at Modern cooking at a later date, unfortunately that date is not set yet as the knife is going out to a photographer first.
